This report will be updated Monday - Friday as significant fire activity continues. April 11, 2011 Initial attack activity was light yesterday. Firefighters from around the country are working on several large fires in Texas. Strong winds caused significant acreage gains yesterday. Currently, 279,609 acres have burned in Texas. Four new large fires were reported: two in Texas, one in Kansas, and one in New Mexico. Weather: Showers and thunderstorms will occur over the lower Mississippi Valley north and east into the Ohio Valley, with cool and wet weather over the Pacific Northwest and in the Northeast.
